Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi reacted to hostile remarks by Saudi Crown Prince’s successor in an interview with local media, saying the remarks, under the most optimistic light, can be interpreted as an incorrect understanding of region’s situation.
“These remarks are a clear evidence of promoting terrorism and following up on damaging and tension-creating policies of Saudis in the region and Iran’s affairs,” he added.
Ghasemi stressed that the current situation in region is not suitable for bringing up such unconstructive opinions, adding “through the years, the Islamic Republic of Iran has shown, both in words and action, that it seeks mutual understanding and cooperation with all regional countries. These remarks, at the time the tension-afflicted region of West Asia is in need of understanding and cooperation more than ever, lack political tact and are considered as a wrong step and strategic mistake.”
“What matters to Iran is unity of the Muslim world and cooperation among all regional countries to find a way out of the various crises stemming from foreign intervention and Takfiri ideologies from Saudi Wahhabism,” he added.
